Why does my teacher call my "songs" "pieces" ?
I have wondered about that too. Recently in the Clavier magazine, the answer was given. Songs have words, like Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Yankee Doodle. Pieces usually describe a work of classical music written for an instrument or a group of instruments.
