Piano Playing is Worth the Effort

It appears that I am starting my week behind, but that really isn't true. I just get so busy that posting here didn't happen. Students who participated in the Sonatina Contest and Festival were able to see that their hard work paid off. Charis even played on the grand piano in Hemle Hall on Sunday afternoon. After students observed the contest routine, a few decided to go with the contest next year instead of festival. I see nothing wrong with that idea.
Now we are working toward the spring theory test on February 27-28 and our own spring festival on April 23rd. Students are to select 2 songs, preferably 1 classical and 1 American. Piano playing is a discipline that a group of you are learning to appreciate. Nothing worthwhile comes easily. There is a lot of practicing, listening, and cooperating involved. When our May Recital rolls around, you can easily see who has done that and who has barely survived through each lesson.
