I have noticed that in the past month some students are trying to play their assignments by reading the finger numbers above the notes. I NEVER teach fingering until a student has the note names learned. Fingering comes later. If you notice that your child is constantly asking "What position are my hands in?" or "Where do my hands go?" please let me know too. I catch up with this problem as soon as I can. It is very hard to break that habit. The student usually does not like it when I mark out all the finger numbers, but it is for their own good.
