Silence your cell phones.
Take pictures when it does not distract the performers
Be respectfully quiet at all times
Wardrobe:
Skirts and dresses- over the knees, not too tight
Sleeves- not hanging over the keys
Necklines- enough said
Jewelry- no clicks and clacks
Shoes- practice performing in your pair (and tie the laces)
Hair- no flicks and fluffs, if you play with your hair, pull
it back.
Overall appearance. Dress how you want your music to sound.
Audiences listen better when the performers take their appearance seriously.
Very few students in a recital are the same size, take 10 seconds
before you play to adjust:
Bench distance
Wait until the audience is quiet
Get your fingers on the right keys
Decide how fast you want to start
During a performance keep moving forward.
Finishing
Keep seated as long as the piano is producing sound.
Take a bow and acknowledge the audience appreciation.
Be proud of yourself. Lots of hard work goes into
recitals.
After the recital and awards, we will have a short reception. Please contribute to the refreshments with items you enjoy. We have a group of nearly 50 students and parents. I will provide the punch. Please let me know what you are going to bring. See you at the recital.
