Lots More Information Ahead

Did you have a good week last week?  Almost everyone told me how tired they were. It is difficult to get back in the swing of a routine after a summer of more freedom. I sent home several papers last week that need to be read and signed. I went over the policy with most students and explained about the various piano activities they could do this year. I must know during this week's lesson who will be a Student Affiliate member.  The fee is $9.00 and due by the 12th.

At this past week’s lesson I gave information to your student(s) about the 100 day challenge. In case you weren’t informed about it, here’s the information, but slightly changed.

Everyone knows that the key to being a better piano player is practice, but it isn’t easy to make time for it. On September 1, 2013 (that is today),we will be starting the 1500 minute practice challenge. Practice for 100 days for at least 15 minutes, and you will have 1500 minutes. You have to practice at least 15 minutes each day.  You will receive a certificate at our next recital and a prize. If you can’t start on September 1, that’s okay. Start sometime in September and you’ll be well on your way to being a better piano player. The competition will end December 10th.

We are already working on practice for other awards. The prize that they will get is one $5 gift card to a choice of places. If they continue to do their theory and Web site games with their practicing, they will actually double up on prizes..

An idea came to me that we could make this pot even “sweeter” by any contribution that the parents would like to do for their child achieving this great accomplishment. My thoughts are that by 100 days a good habit will be in place. It’s a win-win for all. Also, for those that may be wondering we may continue this to 200 days, 300 days, etc.

Please send me an email today and I will send you a chart to keep track of your practice.

One of the great things that happened  last week at piano. Ria kept track of her practice on a chart all summer , even though she was not taking lessons every week.  That was great!!  Made my day.
