Did you ever wonder why we make New Year's resolutions? I think it is because we may feel like we can do a better job of certain things. We throw out the things that made us not succeed and add things that we hope will help us achieve goals. Since I have been involved in school every year of my life, except 6, I have two times a year to start over. I begin on January 1st thinking of plans for the New Year, and I also have another chanceon the first day of school.
When you come to piano lessons next week, I hope you have plans too. Come prepared. It will be nice to hear that you practiced over the holidays and did computer theory. It will be nice to hear that you played for your family and learned a new song or two. I noticed whose been doing their computer games and Isaiah and Ria haven't forgotten. I also noticed some people trying to get the high scores on the challenge games. That is good!
January brings many deadlines to remember.
Jan 15 Deadline for Jazz, Pop, and Rock Recital
Jan 16 Deadline for Sonatina contest and Festival
Jan 17 Deadline for Spring Theory test
Jan 15 Jazz, Pop, and Rock Recital
Please make me aware of the things you want to do. All are Student Affiliate activities except the Sonatina festival and contest.
We will begin the next 100 day/1500 minutes practice challenge on January 6. It will end on April 15th. Rules will be stricter and you must document all practice times and minutes and get parents' signatures that it is accurate before the chart is turned in to me. If you need a chart, email me right away,
Lessons do begin on Monday, January 6th. You must be responsible to stay up with your assignments and lesson schedule. Illness is the only excuse and I have to know at least 1 hour prior to your lesson time for credit.
Let's make 2014 a year that stands out as one filled with accomplishments. That is a resolution we can all keep.
