Happy New Year!

January 5th begins a new year for school and piano too.  Some of you do not start school until Tuesday, but piano lessons start tomorrow.  I am hoping that you have not forgotten to begin your sonatina pieces given before Christmas.  January 9th is the deadline for the theory test that will take place on February 8th.  Then Sonatina festival is February 14th.  As I look over the calendar of events, it blows me away to see how quickly I can look over to May and the end of school.  I have used the "school calendar"  most of my life and cannot imagine how people feel that do not have August through May ingrained in their brains.  It is exciting to me to see how things change each year and improve.  Although I love Christmas music, my favorite recital is in May because of all the accomplishments.

I am going to try once again to incorporate a little more music history into this blog for the purpose of knowledge and allowing you to earn some extra rewards.
Trivia for this week:  Tchaikovsky is well-known for writing "The Nutcracker".  although he never married, who was the lady responsible for changing his life?    You can listen to his music at www.peforkids.com   Name one of your favorites at your lesson this week.
