Nice cool weather this weekend
October is the month for all sorts of action in the music world. Many schools are having band, orchestra and choir competitions. The piano world is no different, Every weekend until Christmas is taken with recitals, testing, and festivals. If you are not involved, you're missing out. Although the stress is definitely a factor, there is obvious learning going on in so many areas.
On another totally different note---there seems to be a lack of consideration for others in our world. I know you have noticed it. It happens everywhere you go and no one seems to realize there are boundaries we should honor. Unfortunately, that has also leaked into my piano studio. Beginning tomorrow, I am asking nicely (at first) for all students and parents to stay in the studio room. That means you are not to stay in my living room. If you are waiting and there is not space, please remain in your car until the lesson time. If you are a student and must wait on a brother or sister, you are not permitted to be in the living room. Parents, please pass this information to your children if you do not attend the lesson with them.Disruptions are getting to be a bother to the student having a lesson. If you have questions regarding this, please contact me. I am sure that you will be respectful of my home and others who are trying to learn.
Trivia for this week: Franz Schubert's music often has a "D" before the titles of his songs. Why? Mozart's music also has a letter before the title. What is the letter and why was it used?
