Another Week Another List

As you start the week, do you make a list of your activities to do or do you just "wing it"? When do you work in practicing? Is it a set schedule or the last on the list? Do you play piano when you are not told to do it? What is your favorite book to play?
I know it is parents who are reading this post, but you might read the question to your students and also think about how you are involved in their lessons and practice. If you never look at the assignments, have no idea what is expected, never ask what they are learning, or never take time to listen then you might need a new perspective too.
I wish some of you could come to random lessons at my house for a week and compare your home practice routine with others and see how you measure up. Some of you are definitely overachievers, but some might be shocked and embarassed by the work other students can do in weeks where they are so overbooked that practice seems impossible. Amazingly, we all find time for things we make a priority.
Trivia question for the week: Which bird is the highest flier and how high does it fly?
