The year is flying by and scaring me a little. Tomorrow, February 4th, is the deadline for ensemble entries. There are seven who have expressed an interest and that is one more area to work in.
The 16th is Sonatina Festival and contest at Texas Tech. Next comes the 2nd theory test for this school year on February 23-24th. I can promise you that when you really work on the theory information the rest of your music will become easier. Don't get me wrong, music isn't easy, otherwise, every body would do it. It is only the tough, hard-working students who last through the hard stuff and excel. On February 23rd is also the date for ensemble tryouts at the Piano Gallery.
What if you are not involved in any of those activities? Well, you still have the Spring Piano Festival on April 6th. I have assigned quite a lot of music to students and the rest should be coming in the next few days.
I guess you know that the groundhog saw his shadow in Lubbock yesterday, so we have more winter yet to come. I am not a fan of cold weather, but at least it is easier to stay inside to practice when the weather is too cold to be outside.
Trivia for this week: I wrote a song called Wiegenlied. It has a title that is more common to remember.
I wrote my first symphony when I was 43. I began to find success when I became friends
with a violinist.
The are 3 questions you can answer in this "who am I?"
