I must say that even though the wind blew today, it was a nice change from freezing. I don't think we are finished with winter, but I like the warmer day for a change.
Next Saturday, 18 students will join me for the Sonatina Festival and Contest at Texas Tech. Careful preparation will assure each one of the rating desired. I hope it will be a great day with achievements that make all of you proud. I keep hearing about the UIL contests and science fairs, so I know that there is very little resting time for any one. This time of year is very very busy.
On February 22-23, more students will take the theory test and 2 students will try out for the high school ensemble to be played at the TMTA convention in Houston in June. I have a hard time thinking about the days when I was in school and actually had the Saturday to do what I wanted to do. Most of you are busy 7 days a week. I am proud that you find that your musical education is important to add to all the other events going on. I hope your practice chart is staying up to date.
Holidays that are coming up this week will add a little more excitement. I am sure you will celebrate dear old Abraham Lincoln's birthday on Wednesday. Then on Friday, give the people special to you a thank you for being in your life. (Maybe even wish them Happy Valentine's Day.)
